Q&A – Custom Home Build

We interviewed our clients who recently received the keys to their incredible custom Fowler Home in Gledswood Hills, NSW. The lovely couple talk about why they chose to build with Fowler to sharing their advice for those who are looking to build and everything in between – take a behind the scenes look at the reality of building!

1. What made you want to build your dream home with Fowler?

My husband & I visited so many display homes when we began our search for a home builder. When we walked into a Fowler display home we instantly felt the difference. We wanted a high-quality home and it was evident that Fowler could produce this.

2. What home did you choose to build?

We always knew we wanted to build a completely custom home. At the time Fowler did not have an in-house design team, so we did have to engage an external company. We made sure to fine-tune our design to ensure it was a functional floorplan and was able to be built from a construction perspective.

3. What was the inspiration behind your custom home design?

Our vision was to always have open-plan living areas with large and airy voids to create a sense of openness. Our style and finishes were always going to be ultra-modern. We wanted our home to have that wow factor.

4. How did you find the Fowler building process from start to finish?

Overall the experience throughout each stage was positive. We had a few hiccups in Pre-
Construction with council & BASIX but that was of no fault to Fowler as we had designed our
own plans. As construction started to build momentum, the effects of the COVID pandemic
were being felt which resulted in supply shortages and delivery delays as well as difficulty
booking in trades. While it was frustrating at times, we were always kept up to date with
every little detail by our site supervisor. Our home was well worth the wait!

5. Was your Site Supervisor and Client Relations Specialist helpful?

We had Mick Bucciarelli as our Site Supervisor and Piera Canto as our Client Relations
Specialist. Both were extremely helpful and extremely patient. We are very particular with a
lot of things and they were very accommodating, understanding and always willing to help.

6. Were you happy with the quality and finish of your new Fowler home?

We are extremely happy with the quality and finish of our new Fowler home and cannot wait to show it off to our friends and family – they were all counting down to handover day
with us!

7. What is your advice for those who might be looking to build?

Building isn’t for the faint hearted. You have to go into it knowing that things will go wrong and there will be unexpected surprises (both good and bad) along the way but it is all in the way the builder handles it to which we can confidently say Fowler exceeded our expectations. We planned out exactly how we wanted our home to look and feel so we went into our selections appointments with a clear vision in mind. Create a moodboard! Another important tip is to understand your budget and know where you wish to splurge and where you wish to save. You want your home to be a reflection of you while also being functional and able to grow with your family into the future.

8. What do you love most about your new home?

We could go on and one about what we love most! It changes every day! We are obsessed with our ultra-modern façade. What a stunning site to drive home to. We also spend a lot of time in our superb kitchen which is really a statement piece. The natural stone and colour palette feels luxurious and inviting. We know this space is going to get a lot of use!

9. Would you build with Fowler Homes again in future?

We would definitely build with Fowler Homes again and have recommended them to a few of our friends who are now looking to build. Thank you Fowler for building our dream home!
